Berks-Montgomery Municipal Authority has provided reliable wastewater collection and treatment services to Douglass Township, Colebrookdale Township, and surrounding communities since 1961. Today, we serve over 4,700 customers through two treatment plants, nine pumping stations, and approximately 90 miles of collection lines
Our History
1957
Douglass Township and Colebrookdale Township began planning for a wastewater collection and treatment facility to meet growing community needs.
1961
On November 3, 1961, Berks-Montgomery Municipal Authority was officially incorporated.
1964
The original sewer system was completed, consisting of two sewage treatment plants (Morysville and West Swamp Creek), two separate collection systems, and one pumping station.
1988
BMMA acquired the Bechtelsville Borough collection system, expanding service to additional customers in the region.
2007
A pumping station and collection lines were constructed to bring sewer service to the Sassamansville community.
2016
Major upgrade completed at West Swamp Creek Treatment Plant, incorporating modern treatment technology and ensuring continued environmental compliance.
Today
BMMA continues to invest in infrastructure improvements and system maintenance to ensure reliable service for our growing communities.
